Jalandhar, Nov. 2, 2018: Students of the Department of Design, Fine Arts and Applied Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) organised a collaborated Diwali Mela at Virsa Vihar. Deputy Commissioner, Varinder Sharma, graced the occasion by inaugurating the same. IS Dhami, Dy. Director, Youth Services-Punjab and Vivek Sondhi, Director, PKF, were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, College Principal, Dr Sucharita, remarked that such events sharpen the managerial acumen among the young students besides boosting their self-confidence. Design students showcased their constructive skills by making sofas using scooter parts; chairs using tyres; tables using bottles and human-structured lamps using wooden material. Next, Fashion Design students displayed designer dresses and designer accessories. Students of Textile showcased their innovative ideas through murals and tapestries while Fine Arts students made the ambiance colorful with their laudable paintings. Especially-abled students from Prayas School, who learnt printing & screen printing and collaborated with Apeejay students, also displayed their art pieces. Deputy Commissioner, Sharma, opined that the artistic beauty of the occasion speaks volumes of the creative excellence of the budding youngsters of the College.
While concluding, Dr Sucharita admired the endeavours of Mr Anil Gupta, HOD, Applied Arts, Dr Jeevan, HOD, Fine Arts and Mrs Rajni Gupta, HOD, Design, for artistically chiseling the students and providing them an appropriate springboard to launch themselves into a creative domain.
