Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar paid tribute to Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul Ji on her 13th Death anniversary.

On this occasion, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, Chairman, Apeejay Education, Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group said that Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul Ji was a determined woman who was far ahead of her times and a compassionate human being. She had an expertise in fine arts, singing, dancing and the desire to introduce it to the masses. It was she who had inspired Dr. Stya Paul Ji to establish Rajeshwari Kala Sangam which is today flourishing and touching greater heights by the name of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. The college is known for preserving heritage and culture and imbibing cultural roots in young generation.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressing her views on this occasion, said that preserving the heritage that she has handed over to us and passing it on to the young generation and connecting them with the development of fine arts is our real tribute to her.

On this occasion, the students of Department of Music mentored by Dr. Arun Mishra, Cultural Coordinator paid melodious tribute to Rajeshwari Paul ji by reciting her favourite bhajans. Dr. Dhingra and all the faculty members paid tribute to Rajeshwari Paul ji.

In wake of ongoing Skill Enhancement Classes at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, the Department of B. Design (Fashion & Textiles) introduced +2 students to the vital aspects of ‘Design Your Own Clothing’.

Faculty members from the Fashion & Textile Department, Ms. Tanya and Ms. Jasleen Kaur, acquainted the students with contemporary fashion design concepts and highlighted the importance of sustainable fashion. The students were introduced to various techniques such as block printing, screen printing, foil printing, and tie & dye. They were also guided on how creative designs can be developed using leftover or waste fabric from home.

The Department of Home Science at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a series of skill enhancement classes titled ‘Hone Your Cooking Skills’ for students who recently appeared for their Class 12 examinations. These sessions attracted enthusiastic participants with a passion for cooking and a desire to refine their culinary abilities.

Students received hands-on training in essential cooking techniques. The sessions covered the preparation of snacks, salads, smoothies, desserts, and main dishes, while also emphasizing foundational knowledge in cooking.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra shared her insights on the initiative, stating that in an age where the younger generation is increasingly inclined toward junk food, it is crucial to educate them about nutritious meals and a balanced diet. She highlighted that these classes not only help students grasp the importance of food presentation, kitchen safety, and regional cuisines but also empower them to prepare healthy meals at home. She further emphasized that the culinary field offers a wide range of career opportunities today, and students can even launch their own startups from home.

ACFA Jalandhar recently conducted a skill enhancement workshop titled ‘Home Décor with Waste Material’ for students who have completed their 12th-grade examinations. Organised by the B. Design department, the workshop taught students how to creatively repurpose everyday waste into attractive and useful décor items. Ms. Samridhi Sharma from the B. Design department guided students in making clay human figures, jute coasters, decorative wall hangings, and candles using the Lippan art technique. The campus was filled with artistic energy as students brought their creative ideas to life.

The Department of Home Science, in collaboration with the NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a workshop on the theme ‘Anemia-Free India’ to mark the occasion of Poshan Pakhwada.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of nutrition, especially in young women, she stated that 57% of women aged between 15 and 49 years are affected by anemia in India. She emphasized the need to educate students on maintaining a healthy lifestyle through a balanced and nutritious diet. She added that such workshops guide students towards making healthy choices and it not only encourage NSS volunteers but also helps to spread awareness about nutrition and anemia prevention in rural areas through various NSS camps. The core focus of the workshop was ‘Mother and Child Nutrition’, which is also the central theme of this year’s Poshan Pakhwada.

Our students - Samairaa Chetal, Harshita Sharma, and Disha Sharma, students of B.Voc. E-Commerce (2nd Semester), won first place in a Business Plan competition organized by Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus.

Out of 19 participating teams, the Apeejayites stood out with their innovative concept, “Monova – Stylist in Your Pocket.” The business plan demonstrated how artificial intelligence can enhance wardrobe efficiency, modernize shopping experiences, and help individuals present themselves in line with current fashion trends. The plan has promising potential to develop into a user-friendly and impactful fashion-tech app.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated the students on their outstanding achievement. She also applauded the dedicated mentorship of Ms. Garima Arora, Department of Commerce and Management, for her pivotal guidance in shaping the students’ success.

Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, have once again brought laurels to the institution by securing top positions in the University examinations conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Taranpreet Kaur of M.Voc – E-Commerce (Semester III) clinched the first position in the university with an outstanding 9.50 SGPA.

In B.Voc (Semester III), Sumit Singh Johal secured the first position with 8.82 SGPA, while Tanisha Ghai and Madhu Sudan shared the second position with 8.64 SGPA.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated the students on their commendable academic performance. She also appreciated the consistent efforts of Dr. Rupali Sood, Head, PG Department of Computer Science, and Dr. Jagmohan Mago for their exemplary mentorship.

Harpratap Singh, a dedicated NSS volunteer and student of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, proudly represented Punjab at the North East Youth Festival held in Gangtok, Sikkim.

The festival witnessed the participation of around 700 students from across the country. Harpratap brought laurels to the state by winning a trophy for his vibrant Bhangra performance. He also actively took part in the NSS volunteers’ parade.

Harpratap taught the traditional Punjabi folk dance—Bhangra—and demonstrated the art of tying a turban to students from other states, leaving a lasting impression of Punjab’s warmth and cultural richness.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated Harpratap on his outstanding achievement. She also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Simki Dev, Dean, NSS Wing, for her dedicated guidance and encouragement.

The 'Language and Literary' Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a vibrant Poetry Recitation Competition on the occasion of World Poetry Day. The event aimed to celebrate the beauty of poetry and literature while fostering love for artistic expression among students.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, addressing the gathering, highlighted the significance of World Poetry Day, which was established by UNESCO in 1999 to preserve endangered languages and keep the spirit of poetry alive worldwide.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. They showcased their poetic talents by reciting original compositions as well as works by renowned poets. The winners of the competition were:

The second day of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Rajeshwari Kala Sangam (RKS), Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, and the 6th Rajeshwari Kala Mahotsav, witnessed a magnificent performance by celebrity singer Mrs. Malini Awasthi.

The day commenced with a Hawan Ceremony, seeking blessings of the Divine Power, followed by plantation of a sapling by esteemed Madam Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education; Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group; Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University.

Mrs. Berlia presided over the evening function as Chief Guest, and the presence of Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-owner and Director (Family Business Board) – Apeejay Stya and Svran Group; Lead - Education Vertical; Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, added much charm and grace to the occasion. Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia and Dr. Neha Berlia warmly welcomed Padma Shree awardee Mrs. Malini Awasthi and Punjab's famous visual artist Dr. Prem Singh with fragrant bouquets.

Addressing the august gathering, Madam Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia expressed her gratitude and bowed her head in remembrance of the Founder Chairman and her father, Dr. Stya Paul Ji. She also reminisced about the old days when ACFA was still RKS and cherished her precious time spent on the campus, learning art and sharing valuable moments with her parents.

In her address, Dr. Neha Berlia expressed her joy at witnessing the realization of Dr. Stya Paul Ji’s vision through this magnificent, multi-dimensional, and premier institution.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra also saluted the spirit of Dr. Stya Paul Ji, a visionary and the personification of grit and dedication.

The National Youth Festival winners—Harsifat, Jasleen, Shivam, Anjali, Ghazal, and Rahul—delivered a melodious symphony of Western songs. Khushi, a student from the Department of Dance and a National Youth Festival winner, presented a mesmerizing Kathak performance.

The evening also saw Padma Shree Mrs. Malini Awasthi and Triennale awardee Dr. Prem Singh being felicitated with the Rajeshwari Kala Samman - Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to the fields of Performing Arts and Visual Arts, respectively. The awards were presented by Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia and Dr. Neha Berlia. The highlight of the evening was the rendition of Ghazals and Sufiana Kalams by Padma Shree Mrs. Malini Awasthi.
