Apeejay College of Fine Arts celebrated International Women's Day and dedicated the day to Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia - A true leader. As ACFA is celebrating Golden Jubilee this year, this year's Women's Day was celebrated in unique manner in collaboration with Indian Medical Association, to create awareness about women's health. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a captivating Durga Stuti performed by students.

This day was especially dedicated to Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia (Chairman, Apeejay Education, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University) under whose expert guidance and able leadership the college is soaring higher and higher.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra also reflected on the college’s 50-year journey, attributing its success to the vision of Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul - the wife and inspiration of the college’s Founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul. Also, she emphasized and gave credit of this success to the able leadership of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, the progressive outlook of Dr. Neha Berlia, who is leading the Education Vertical of the group and the dedicated efforts of Dr. Sucharita Sharma (Director, Apeejay Education).

The event was graced by the distinguished guests Dr. M. S. Bhutani (President, Indian Medical Association), Dr. Pooja Kapoor, (Secretary, IMA) and expert and senior gynecologists Dr. Amita Sharma, Dr. Harneet Grover, and Dr. Neeti Chhabra Gupta.

In the panel discussion on ‘Women’s Health: Awareness & Prevention’ all the medical experts, covered the important topics related to women's health. Also, the college organised a mammography camp, where more than 40 faculty members availed themselves of free screenings.

Also, on this special occasion, a documentary showcasing the life and contributions of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia was screened. Students from Department of Dance gave a powerful dance performance on women’s empowerment. Dr. Pooja Kapoor presented her powerful poem ‘Nari Ka Samman,’ honouring the strength and resilience of women.

The students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, have once again brought pride to their institution by delivering an outstanding performance at the National Youth Festival 2025. Representing Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, the college played a pivotal role in securing the First Runners-Up Trophy for the university.

Organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Amity University, Noida, from March 3rd to March 7th, the festival witnessed the participation of 2,500 students from 148 universities across India. GNDU’s stellar performance made them bag Overall First Runners-Up trophy along with First Runners-Up in Fine Arts, First Runners-Up in Dance, Second Runners-Up in Theatre, and Third Position in Cultural Procession.

Harsifat secured first place in Western Vocal Solo, Khushi in Classical Dance, Vishal in Mimicry, Vikas Kalotra in Rangoli, and Ankush, Sanyam Arora, Harsh, Vishal, Saurav Paul, and Daksh Sharma in Mime. Harsifat Kaur, Jasleen Kaur, Anjali Bhagat, Sukhmani Arora, Anmol Preet, and Ghazal won second place in Western Group Song, Sahil in Classical Instrumental – Percussion, and Yash in Clay Modeling. Gargi, Nisha, Lavisha, Vrinda, Palvinder, Himani, Bhoomi, and Diya secured third place in Folk Dance.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal, expressed her gratitude to Prof. Dr. Karamjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, and Dr. Amandeep Singh, Incharge, Youth Welfare Department, for providing this golden opportunity to the students. Congratulating the winners, she remarked, “We are immensely proud of our students. Their dedication and perseverance have led to this remarkable achievement, and we look forward to seeing them scale even greater heights.” She also appreciated the relentless efforts of Dr. Arun Mishra, Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Amita Mishra, Youth Welfare Dean, and Dr. Micky Verma, who worked tirelessly to guide the students and help them achieve this success.

The PG Department of Commerce and Management at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, under the aegis of MAC Forum, successfully organised a two-day workshop on the National Institute of Securities Market (NISM). The workshop featured distinguished speakers Mr. Nagesh Kumar and Ms. Anita Saini, both of whom bring over 15 years of experience in stock market operations, SEBI law, and financial market compliance.

During the sessions, the speakers provided an in-depth understanding of NISM, capital markets, and SEBI regulations. They stressed the significance of thoroughly researching investment opportunities before committing funds. The workshop also highlighted the various regulatory bodies that govern different business sectors, ensuring students gained a well-rounded perspective on financial market operations.

Mr. Aman Deep Thakur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce and Management at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar (ACFA), has been honoured with the prestigious NPTEL STAR award at IIT Kanpur. This recognition, conferred under the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, acknowledges his outstanding contributions to online learning and professional development.

It is noteworthy that Mr. Thakur has successfully completed 19 courses in the fields of Management and Marketing through NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), a joint initiative by the IITs and IISc. His dedication and commitment to continuous learning set him apart, making him the only invited scholar from Punjab to receive this esteemed honour.

Zorawar Singh, a talented student of MA Music Vocal (2nd Semester) at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, has brought laurels to the institution by securing first place in Mimicry at the prestigious All India Folk Art Contest held in Kartarpur, organized by the Indian Cultural Association.

It is noteworthy that Zorawar Singh has consistently demonstrated his mimicry skills at Zonal, Inter-Zonal, North Zone, and National-Level Youth Festivals, earning widespread recognition. Apeejay College of Fine Arts continues to support and celebrate its students' artistic endeavours, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in performing arts.

Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar successfully organised an intensive workshop on the latest AI tools and techniques, aimed at enhancing productivity and creativity across various domains. The workshop provided participants with hands-on experience in utilizing AI for content creation, design, video production, music composition, and voiceovers.

The session on Large Language Models (LLMs) introduced tools like ChatGPT, showcasing their potential in automating tasks, brainstorming ideas, and generating high-quality content. A dedicated segment on prompt engineering helped attendees craft precise inputs to maximize AI-generated outputs.

In AI-powered design, tools such as Canva AI, Adobe Firefly, and Freepik were demonstrated, illustrating how AI streamlines graphic design and enhances visual creativity. AI in video production featured platforms like Runway ML and Canva, showcasing automated video editing and special effects generation.

Participants also explored AI in music production, where tools like Suno.ai were used to create original compositions in minutes. The session on AI voiceovers introduced ElevenLabs.ai, highlighting its ability to generate realistic voiceovers and edit audio seamlessly. The workshop concluded with an interactive prompt generation session, allowing attendees to experiment with AI tools across text, image, and video domains.

The INTACH Heritage Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised an enriching educational, spiritual and cultural excursion to Vrindavan and Surajkund Fair in Faridabad. This college excursion was aimed at seeking blessings from the Almighty at the beginning of the golden jubilee years of its establishment. It provided students spiritual enlightenment and first-hand exposure to India’s rich cultural heritage.

A group of 42 students, accompanied by three faculty members, embarked on this journey to explore iconic historical sites, bustling markets, and the vibrant Surajkund Fair. The trip was meticulously coordinated under the guidance of Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra and Ms. Rajni Kumar (Dean, Heritage Club). This excursion was managed and organised by Mr. Vishav Bandhu Verma (INTACH Member), accompanied by Ms. Tanya and Ms. Jasleen Kaur.

In Vrindavan, the students immersed themselves in spiritual atmosphere, visiting revered temples such as Shri Banke Bihari Ji, Radha Raman, Radha-Vallabh Ji, Prem Mandir, Nidhivan and ISCKON and experiencing the divine energy of the town. After spending two days in Vrindavan, the journey continued to Surajkund, a fair renowned worldwide for its International art and cultural exhibitions where students got captivated by the vibrant display of India’s diverse handicrafts, folk performances, and traditional art forms.

'Tech Vibes 2025' was organized by the IT Forum of PG Department of Computer Science, wherein competitions like Debugging, Web designing and Net savvy were organized. Students participated with much enthusiasm and after analyzing their work and efforts, judges of the events declared the results.

In the Debugging competition, Arshiya Jairath and Ekam bagged the covetous first position, Tanya Anand and Subnoor Kaur bagged second position whereas Asees Kaur and Parmeet Kaur captured third position. In Web designing, Himanshu and Simarjit Singh secured first place, Yuvika and Madhusudan secured second place and Tanmay Garg and Pulkit Nailwal secured third place. Yet in another competition named - Net Savvy, Sania and Ansh secured first place, Ankur and Samaira secured second place and Mehtab and Noor secured third place.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra along with the faculty of PG Department of Computer Science felicitated the winners with certificates and admired their spirit. She also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Rupali Sood, Head, Department of Computer Science, Dr. Jagmohan Mago and Ms.Pallavi Mehta for successfully organizing Tech Vibes 2025 and providing such apt platforms for students which challenges them to leave their comfort zone behind and be the part of a healthy competition.

Eco Club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar with the courtesy of Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change organized a visit of students at Rose Festival in Chandigarh. Apart from enjoying the nature and variety of species of roses in the Rose Garden, students also spent time at other popular sites of Chandigarh like Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake. As many as 50 students of Eco Club went to the Rose Festival under the guidance of Ms. Chetna Sharma, Ms. Rachita Jain and Mr. Amandeep Singh. ACFA Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra admired the efforts of Ms. Simkee Dev, Dean, Eco Club for organizing this visit and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

The Department of Fashion Makeover of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a one-day workshop on 'Nail Art & Designs for the students of Fashion Makeover and B.Voc. Cosmetology. The Resource speaker of this workshop was Ms. Sehajman Kaur, an alumnus of the college, who is a nail artist and educator and is the owner of 'The Nail Therapy' studio in Jalandhar.

Addressing the students, Ms. Sehajman Kaur spoke about the techniques, tools and essential products that are used for nail art, as also the latest trends that are popular among the clients these days. She also made students aware about the disorders and diseases of nails. She also shared how to attend clients while running their own salon and provide them satisfactory services.
