Smriti, a student of B-Design (Multimedia) Semester VIII of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar has received invitation with her parents to participate as a Guest in the Republic Day parade to be held in Delhi on 26th January 2025.

The Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated her and put forth that it is a matter of pride as students of our college get the special opportunities. She added Smriti, being an active member of NSS wing for the last three years, has been participating with great enthusiasm in various activities. She fulfills her social responsibilities and inspires other students around her as well to become good citizens.

The Anti-Ragging Cell of ACFA along with NSS wing, organised a poster making Competition in which the students of the college participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra opined that the College strives to make students aware of social problems so that they understand the root of these issues and try to bring a positive change in the society and make other students as well aware of it.

We are glad to share that Mr. Amandeep Thakur, Assistant Professor of PG Department of Commerce and Management of ACFA has been honoured with NPTEL Star in the field of Management and Marketing for fifth time in row. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra expressed her happiness over his wonderful achievement and put forth that our faculty members work hard consistently and update their knowledge and skills as per the changing times. Their hard work and newly honed skills certainly enhance their teaching methodologies and thus they educate and guide students even better.

The College magazine titled - Kala Saurabh is one of the platforms offered by the college for students to invoke and challenge their intellectual and writing skills. The magazine invites array of articles, poetical compositions, Book Reviews, Short stories, Art works etc. from students to publish it. On the occasion of Inauguration of 50 year Golden Jubilee Celebrations, this magazine - Kala Saurabh was released by Dr. Neerja Dhingra (Principal, ACFA), Dr. Sucharita (Director, Apeejay Education, Jalandhar), Dr. Rajesh Bagga (Director, Apeejay Institute of Management and Technical Campus), Dr. Navjot Deol (Chief Editor), Ms. Jaspreet Kaur (Assistant Editor), Dr. Anjana (Editor, Hindi Section), Ms. Lovepreet Kaur (Editor, Punjabi Section), Ms. Amandeep (Editor, Arts Section).

The magazine has been divided into 4 sections i.e. English, Hindi, Punjabi and Art. The Language sections consist of literary works as poems, stories, memoirs and articles whereas Arts section showcases students' work with acrylic, charcoal, pencil, photography, oil on canvas. The Principal congratulated the entire team of Kala Saurabh magazine and Student Editors - Ms. Vibhuti Sharma (Arts Section), Ms. Mannat Wadhwa (Hindi Section), Ms. Shobhana Agarwal (English Section), Germanjit Singh (Punjabi Section) and Ms. Jasmeet Kaur (Designer, Cover page of the magazine) for their efforts and successful publication of the magazine.

The NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised the Valedictory Ceremony of 7-day NSS Camp SAPTVARN. The camp was inaugurated from 9th to 15th January 2025. Dr. Mandeep Kaur, PCS, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar presided as Chief Guest and Dr. Sumita Abrol, Assistant Health Officer, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar presided as Guest on this day. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra warmly welcomed the guests along with floral bouquets and expressed her gratitude for their presence.

The Valedictory Ceremony began with Classical Dance on Surya Vandana followed by a video presentation titled - Gatha which showcased the story and a journey of a woman from the Vedic to modern times. The glimpses of the activities and work done by NSS Volunteers during the camp where shown wherein they had organised rallies and lectures on important topics like - Cyber Awareness, Health Management, Youth Development, Connecting students with roots etc. All the NSS Volunteers were given certificates for their contribution in making the camp a success.

ACFA commenced the onset of its Golden Jubilee celebrations recently. On this special occasion, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia (Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group; Chairman, Apeejay Education, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University) was also present virtually and addressed the august gathering. Madam Berlia put forth that beginning our Golden Jubilee celebrations on the day of Makar Sankrati has been the most befitting day for this festival itself symbolises good vibes, hope and enthusiasm.

Talking of the growth and achievements of the college, Madam Berlia acknowledged the efforts of the former Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Dr. Arun Mishra and Dr. Amita Mishra. On this day, a new college logo symbolising 50 years of celebrations was also released. Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal ACFA expressed her gratitude towards Madam Sushma Paul Berlia for her guidance and leadership. Also, the students presented a dance performance on the College theme song.

On the second day of 7-day NSS Camp - Saptvarn, the NSS Volunteers along with their respective teachers visited Dhudiyal. The entire day was dedicated to creating Digital Literacy & Cyber Awareness. Dr. Jagmohan Mago, Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science and IT gave a lecture to the villagers and discussed with them in details about the necessary security that people must take.

The NSS team on the third day visited Kandhala Guru village and organised a Health check-up camp where the general health as BP, glucose level and weight etc. was checked. Dr. Neeraj Katyal, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy was the main spokesperson of the day. In the medical camp, he guided the local villagers about their health. A rally was also organised to create awareness about drug abuse and its harmful effects. Also, ₹1 stall was organised to distribute old clothes to needy people in the villages and a play titled - Zehar was enacted with the theme creating awareness about plastic waste.

The NSS Wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar inaugurated the 7-day NSS Camp in the College campus. The theme of the camp is SAPTVARN - Colours of Life.

The objective of this camp is to provide an opportunity for students to engage in community service, develop their leadership skills, and foster a sense of social responsibility. The students shall visit different villages, organise and be the part of cleanliness drives and campaigns, create general awareness about cybercrime and scams and drug abuse to the villagers and truck drivers. Also, there shall be competitions for the students to participate in like Poster Making, Photography, Best-out-of-waste etc. Also, the free health check-up camps shall be organised during this 7 day NSS Camp.

In the Technical Session, Dr. Sanjeev Anand, Head, PG Department of Computer Science, LKC, Jalandhar was the Resource Person who addressed the students on the topic - Youth Development where he emphasised how the youth can contribute in the betterment of the nation. The Principal congratulated the students and wished luck to the students who had volunteered to join the camp and were working actively in it.

In the ongoing Faculty Development Programme series, another session was organised on the topic 'The Hidden Cost of Convenience in our Food Choices.' Ms. Shriya Maini, Assistant Professor in PG Department of Commerce and Management and recipient of the National NSS Award in the session 2021-22 from Honorable President Mrs. Draupadi Murmu, was present as the Resource Person.

Ms. Maini emphasised that one strictly needs to eliminate refined food in all forms from their diet as they tend to be extremely harmful for our bodies and rather adopt the usage of desi ghee, mustard oil, coconut oil etc. The take away from the session was that one can start living a healthy life from our homes. For instance, we can grow green vegetables at home and thus begin to take care of our nutritious intake. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated the in-charges for successfully organising such insightful FDPs.

A Faculty Development Programme on 'Sustainable Development Goals' was organised at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. In this FDP, as Resource Person, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra addressed the faculty members on the subject. Addressing the gathering, she first introduced the topic and how these goals address a wide-range of inter-connected challenges, including poverty eradication, environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic growth, all under the guiding principle of “leaving no one behind.” She also emphasised that migration to the developed nations is certainly not the solution for it will only lead to become a problem there in the future.
