Webinar on Punjabi Natak ate Rangmanch

Jalandhar, Dec 12 2020: The Department of Punjabi of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a Webinar on Punjabi Natak ate Rangmanch. The Resource Person of the day was Dr Kewal Krishan Nailwal who is one of the iconic figures of this field.

College Principal, Dr Neerja Dhingra, warmly welcomed him and put forth that it is an honour to have such personality amongst us and it is a privilege for our students who will get inspired by him. She added it is the quality and passion in his plays that attract the audience towards his works.

Addressing the students, Dr Kewal Krishan Nailwal put forth that Theatre is the biggest platform that can be used to express ourselves and also to point out the social stigmas around us. Talking of the history of Plays in the Punjabi language, he shared that initially plays had begun to raise opinions on the things happening around in the society such as dowry, broken marriages, etc. but with the evolving times, the themes of today’s plays are changing widely and embracing wider subjects for its plots. He also shared with students his experience and the challenges he came across within this field.

Answering students’ queries, he also talked of the role of design in stage setting, variation in the voice of the characters, pitch, etc.

Mr Gurpreet Singh from the Department of Theatre expressed his ecstasy at being able to interact with such an iconic figure of Theatre.

Dr Neerja Dhingra congratulated Mr Sandeep Singh, HOD, Punjabi, and other faculty members for successfully organising this event.
