Jalandhar, April 12, 2021: To commemorate the 75th year of India’s Independence, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised an online function to pay tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Mr. Vishav Bandhu Verma from the Department of History gave an illumining PowerPoint presentation on the topic highlighting the events that followed up to the historic tragedy. Ms. Anuradha from the Department of Punjabi recited a self-composed poem on the topic. Poster-making and Portrait-making competitions were also organised under the aegis of the Department of Fine Arts.
Addressing the audience, College Principal, Dr. Neerja Dhingra stressed the importance of these functions which work as eye-openers. She said that the youngsters need to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to liberate our country from the clutches of British rule and elaborated that these programs help in the holistic development of Apeejayites making them aware, responsible, and sensitive citizens. She congratulated the different Departments of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages for organising a successful function.
