New Delhi, August 18, 2021: The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) undertook a tree plantation drive at Guru Ram Dass Chowk, Jalandhar where they planted 45 saplings under the guidance of Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Apeejay Stya University, (ASU), Sohna, Gurugram (Haryana) and Director, Apeejay Education along with Principal of ACFA, Dr. Neerja Dhingra.
The NSS volunteers also participated in ‘Rashtra Gaan’ – An initiative by the Ministry of Culture to mark ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. They uploaded their videos singing the National Anthem to be a part of a record including the maximum number of Indians singing the National Anthem together for this venture, Ministry of Culture provided the certificates for the same to the students. The College further has been actively running a series of events since January 2021 to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in students through different cultural activities, quizzes, debates, and environmental initiatives. Planting a sapling each, Dr. Sucharita and Dr. Neerja Dhingra encouraged and inspired the students to preserve their environment and do plantations at their homes too.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal, ACFA, congratulated everyone on this auspicious day and saluted the freedom fighters and soldiers. She urged all the young brigades to realise their responsibilities towards the nation and contribute their best in making India a superpower. Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean, NSS, and her NSS Wing.
